On All Souls’ Day, the Church remembers and prays for all the faithful who have died. Christians have prayed for the dead from the earliest centuries, and November 2 gradually became the day set aside throughout the Church for this special commemoration.

While All Saints rejoices in those already with God, All Souls is a day of remembrance, prayer and hope — entrusting those who have gone before us to God’s mercy and to the promise of eternal life in Christ.
