The Optional Memorial of Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher honours the Canadian religious sister who founded the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Born Eulalie Durocher in Quebec in 1811, she became deeply involved in parish life and was especially concerned with the education and religious formation of young people. 

In 1843, she founded a new religious community in Longueuil and took the name Sister Marie-Rose. The congregation grew from those modest beginnings into an international teaching community. She died in 1849 and was beatified by St. John Paul II in 1982.
